There is no healing without nurturing relationships. -Dr. Karyn Purvis

Approaches Grounded in Connection, Regulation, and Understanding

  • Silhouette of two hands forming a heart shape against a sunset over water.

    Circle of Security

Circle of Security is a relationship based program that works to develop and strengthen parent-child attachments. As a Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator I use this framework to help understand how you and your child come together and explore new ways of meeting that might better serve you.

    Theraplay

Theraplay is a type of play therapy that includes caregivers and children together to affect growth and change. Theraplay uses four characteristics of a healthy parent-child relationship (e.g. structure, nurture, engagement and challenge) to help positively shape a child’s image of themselves, others and the world through intentional interaction between them. I am trained in Level 1 Theraplay and completing practicum to fulfill Foundational Practitioner requirements.

    Family Systems Approach

We are born into relationships with others, and all through life we are shaped by those around us—and we too, shape them. A child is apart of a caregiving unit, a family in whatever form that takes shape. For this reason I approach individual work with children and teens from a family perspective. This means I include parents and families in the counseling process to create a stronger system for everyone. I am Level 2 trained in Integrative Attachment Family Therapy and use other family systems approaches such as Filial Play Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy and Emotion Focused Family Therapy.
