Teen Therapy

Adolescence can bring enormous change—emotionally, socially, academically, and within families. Teens may find themselves struggling with anxiety, depression, intense emotions, relationships, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life.

Therapy offers a space to feel understood while also building practical skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, and handling difficult situations. I work collaboratively with teens to better understand what’s getting in the way, build on their strengths, and find strategies that actually work for them.

Meeting Teens Where They Are

There isn’t one approach that works for every teen. Therapy is tailored to what each teen needs—whether that means practical tools for managing anxiety and intense emotions, understanding patterns of thinking or behavior, navigating relationships, or simply having space to make sense of what they’re experiencing.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while keeping therapy collaborative, relational, and neurodiversity-affirming. The goal is to help teens develop skills that are useful in real life while also feeling understood for who they are.

Supporting Teens
Means Supporting Families

Parents and caregivers can be an important part of a teen’s progress. I work to balance a teen’s need for privacy and trust while helping parents better understand, support, and connect with their teen.

Parent involvement looks different for every family and depends on the teen’s age, needs, and goals for therapy.
